About Me
I am a business/IT teacher at a small high school in Virginia. Interestingly enough, it's the same high school that I attended; the same one I swore as a teenager that if I ever escaped from it, I would run for dear life. Yep, that would be the same one. :-) Life is funny that way.
What's even more relevant for this journey I am undertaking is the investment I find myself making for this school. I think it's fueled by pride in my alma mater and an underlying faith that small schools still have a strong place in the academic growth of our society.
I decided to record my progress so that my students can see that it's okay to struggle with "new"; if you stay persistent understanding will come; but most importantly, you should never, ever stop learning.
I also know that my trek is not unique. I believe that most educators are struggling to focus our learners on cultivating their strengths/talents/knowledge for the 21st century workplace. I am ready to increase focus and learning for my students, so therefore, I must grow outside of my own learning paradigm and delve head-first into theirs. But, I have to adapt - adapt my own way of learning, expectations and teaching environments. So, here I go! Wish me luck. ;)
